Since I live in a place far away from town, Waikiki, I usually drive one and a half hour every day. I wanted to make this commute time to be efficient, so I started using the Podcast. I listened to different podcasts not only nursing and medical stuff but also some other stuff that I'm interested in. The good part of the podcast is you can change the speed of the talking, so I think it is very useful to
learn English listening skill too. I'll talk about some podcasts I've been using.

1)Med Master  Nursing Pharmacology by NRSNG

The pharmacology is my biggest enemy. In the NCLEX, I needed a lot of knowledge about pharmacology then I started using this podcast. 1 episode takes about 3 to 5 minutes, and the speaker explains what the medicine is used for, side effects, adverse effects and etc. NRSNG provides us various types of podcast such as labs, EKG and NCLEX prep. I recommend using those podcasts depends on what you need to study more.

2)2 DOCS TALK

I started listening to this one because I wanted to learn not only nursing but also general medical stuff. Two doctors talk about the various types of topics including the result of research in 15 to 20 minutes. This podcast is provided not only people who work in the medical industry but also patients or anybody. The medical system is really different from Japan and they sometimes talk about the general idea, changes and movement about the system, it helped me to understand easily.

3) Your Next Shift  by Elizabeth Scala

I just found this podcast. In this podcast, the host does an interview for nurses who work in a bunch of different fields. This podcast keeps telling me that we have so many options in our industry which I realized since my friends from college work in different areas. Also, every single speaker faces their difficulty or failure, but they don't lose their hope and keep moving on, and that motivates me a lot. While I was working on getting my nursing license in the U.S, I faced challenges and overcame those. (Of course, I had to overcome a lot when I was a nursing student and working in a hospital.) Hopefully, this podcast spreads more and motivate more and more people!

4)TED Radio Hour by NPR

I personally like to listen to TED talk, and I listened to them here and there. I like this one because I can listen 4 or 5 people talking in an hour. I'm easy to get bored just listening to one person unless the person is really good at talking, so I love this interview style podcast.

In this article, I introduced 4 podcasts. I'm pretty sure there are good one more than these 4. I hope you find something matches your interest.

Thank you for reading this article.
