Text books recommendation

今回の記事では私が使った教科書やどのようにノートを取っていたかについて紹介したいと思います。

 

教科書は

1) Incredibly easy!

2)Saunders

3)Kaplan

の３つを上から順番に使いました。

 

１）Incredibly Easy!

 これは片っ端から読み、知らない単語にはマーカーで印をつけ、いちいち英英辞書で調べてノートを取っていました。英英辞典で読んでもピンとこないものや日本語訳を知りたいものに関しては日本語でメモを取ったりしました。

以前も英英辞典を使うことをお勧めしましたが、英英を使うと最初は時間がかかりますが、辞書で調べたものから知らない単語を拾ったり出来るので獲得できる単語数は確実に多くなります。また英語に慣れていくのが早くなると思います。

２）Saunders

Incredibly easy を一通り読み終わり医療英語が身についてきたところで実際の問題に触れていきたいと始めました。問題のすぐ隣に解説があること、何がトピックの問題であるか簡潔に記載してあるので試験直前の知識を復習している時にはトピックのみを見てどんな知識を覚えておく必要があるのかrecallするのに便利でした。

３）Kaplan

 一番本当の試験に近いと勧められたkaplan。この本を一通り行なった後にオンラインでのQbankという2000問以上問題が入っているのを購入しました。オンラインでのkaplan

NCLEXを勉強している方はお気づきかもしれませんがとにかく日本の看護師試験とは別物です。知識を知ってるのは当たり前。そこからのアセスメント力、トリアージ力をとにかく鍛えられます。知識も他の日本人ナースの方と話すとこんなこと知らなかったとかなり深い知識が問われます。これがアメリカ看護師に求められていることなんだろうなと。。。。。知らなければならない情報の多さ、自分の知識力のなさに圧倒され、やるせのない気持ちに幾度となりました。（終わりの見えない感じや、無謀感、無力感。本当にこれを合格していけるのかと自己不信感も）でも、アメリカ、また他の国で活躍している日本人ナースがたくさんいる！希望はあるとただ毎日少しでも勉強すること、できてない部分ではなく、出来るようになった部分に目を向けるようにしていました。（医療業界にあって勉強が終わることはありません、、、、汗）最後に自分に言い聞かせていたのは、”試験に合格することは通過地点であって、そこから実際に働きに出た時に患者さんに対して安全で確かなケアを提供するために自分は勉強している。”でした。

 

 

 

In this article, I introduced textbooks that I used to

study medical terms and for the NCLEX-RN exam. I also

showed some of my notebooks.

 

Every person has their own way to study.

I am good at memorizing by seeing,  so I tried to draw some pictures in my notebooks and also saw a lot of pictures on the internet. I hope you can find the best way to study. I tried so many ways to find my best way to study.

 

 

There is an absolutely HUGE difference between nursing exam in Japan and the United States. That's because the ability which is expected nurses to perform is different in here, I think.

 

I needed to recall what I learned in my nursing school and also

gain the knowledge I've never known and on the top of that, I needed to acquire the ability to assess and triage the situation by using that knowledge. It's pretty tough, I don't remember how many times I felt like I'm a failure, useless or idiot.

 

BUT!!!!!!!!!!!

I tried to focus on what I'm getting better at not what I didn't know.

Because you are definitely getting better at it, even if it doesn't seem like it. And you are so awesome and brave just to go through this.

 

A lot of Japanese nurses are working in all over the world!   There's always hope!

 

And this is what I keep telling myself, "You are not studying just for the test, but for the patients and their safety and the best of care in the future."
