やりたいこと、考えていることを口にする。
言霊を信じている！と言うわけではありませんが、気にしてしていることは考えていることやこれやってみたいんだけどなーと言うことを口にすること、誰かに言うこと。そうすると本当にチャンスがやってきたり、自分にとって必要な人間関係に繋がったりするんです。面白い。
I wouldn't say that I believe in *'Kotodama', but I try to say out loud when I have something I'm interested in doing. When I do so, I would get an opportunity or it leads to an important relationship.Fascinating, isn't it?
*Kotodama: When you say good things, good things happen, and if you say bad things it will come back to you as bad stuff.
ここ数日のことで言うと、いつもお世話になってるマッサージセラピストさんとはざっくばらんに今の状況などを話すんですが’実は〜将来的に日本人の看護師さんたちが医療英語学べたり、ハワイの地元の病院でインターンとかができるように手伝える仕事をしたいんですよ〜’と話したところ、Yogaなどのアクテビティを授業の一環として取り入れている語学学校があると。早速、病院で使える英語なんかをそういったアクテビティクラスで教えさせてくれませんか〜？とメールするとすぐに返事が。
The other day, I was talking with my massage therapist and told that I'm interested in helping Japanese nurses to do an internship in Hawai'i or learn medical English. She told me that there is a language school which offers different kinds of activity classes. I messaged if I could teach medical English, then I got a reply very quickly.
あまり医療英語は需要ないけど良かったら補助の先生として登録しない？と誘いを受けあれよあれよと言うまに面接することに。そんで連絡してから三日後に早速面接。話も弾み、まずはキッズクラスのアシスタントとして学校に関わっていくことに。その間、医療英語のクラスを看護学生や看護師対象としてターゲットを絞ってできないか考えてくれることに！！！！！！！わお！！！！！もしやもしや近い将来に医療英語のクラスができちゃうんじゃない？どういう風になっていくか全く想像もつかないけど、とにかくワクワクが止まらなーい！
The principal told me that there is not much demand for medical English. However, he suggested me applying for an on-call/substitute teacher position. Three days later, I had an interview. He told me that he is interested in having medical English class for the future meanwhile I will be an assistant teacher for kid's class. I wasn't expected this but it may happen!I'm just so excited.
面接の内容はざっと、ハワイでの経歴と、教育現場での経験（教えた経験やクラスを持ったことがあるか）とそこで感じたこと、なんで医療英語が必要だと思うか、なんでその学校を選んだのかなどなど。事前準備としては学校のウェブサイトは一通り確認して、学校が力を入れてそうなところを見つける、あとはインターネットでESLの面接でよく聞かれる質問を調べてざっくりと自分の答えを用意してました。
At the interview, I was asked how I spent my years in Hawai'i, experience in education (if I ever led a class before, or taught before), why I think it's important to learn medical English, why I choose this school to teach, etc....As a preparation, I checked the school's website and find what their selling point, and most commonly asked questions for ESL teacher and thought about my answers.
教育に関わりたい〜と学生時代から思ってきて、学生時代にも教員免許をとる準備したり、子供や学生に関わり続けて、一度は諦めたもののまた子供や学生に関われると思うと本当にしみじみと嬉しい。もちろん看護師も好きなんだけど。そこはどうやっていくかは、、、またその時考えます。
I kept hoping to involve in education since I was a student, and I minored education in college and worked for kids and students. I gave up once, but I'm really happy that I have this opportunity right now. Of course, I love working as a nurse. I'll think about it....later....how do I do.
